‘F**king Nailed It!’: ‘Daily Show’ Spots Hilarious Flaw In Donald Trump’s J6 Logic

“The Daily Show” host Ronny Chieng on Wednesday found the fault with Donald Trump’s defense of pardoning those of his supporters who committed violent acts when they stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

When Trump was challenged at a news briefing on why he’d pardoned a man who’d thrust a stun gun into a police officer’s neck, the president replied, “We’ll take a look at everything.”

Chieng was stunned at Trump’s answer.

“Shouldn’t you look at it before you issue the pardon?” he asked.

Chieng continued, “It’s like, Step 1, release the prisoners. Step 2, look into which prisoners we should release.”

“Fucking nailed it,” he mocked Trump.

Then Chieng predicted: “‘We’ll take a look,’ which is Trump speak for, ‘We will never look at this again.’”

Axios reported Wednesday that Trump staffers struggled ahead of his inauguration with the “onerous” task of deciding which of the 1,500+ criminals and defendants should be granted clemency.

So, the president just said, “Fuck it. Release ’em all,” per Axios.

Trump was just keen to draw a line under the controversial issue ― which split opinion among Republicans too ― and move on.
