Sam Nivola Says This Early ‘White Lotus’ Line Was A Major Clue All Along

Warning: This post contains spoilers for “The White Lotus.”

“The White Lotus” actor Sam Nivola on Monday weighed in on one popular fan theory about the HBO series’ third season, which was spot-on.

Appearing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Nivola (who played the handsy Lochlan Ratliff) admitted he doesn’t spend much time reading fan chatter online.

But one theory, he said, caught his attention because it turned out to be true.

“The one that I saw that was right is the thing, like the rule of threes thing,” Nivola told host Jimmy Fallon. “Someone posted a theory, you know, Chelsea says in the beginning that bad things come in threes. And there’s the three kids, and the three women, and all these threes. And then… should I not say a spoiler? Three people died!”

The “rule of threes” line, delivered by Aimee Lou Wood’s character Chelsea earlier in the season, was an eerie foreshadowing of Sunday’s dramatic finale when three central characters met their demise.

Rick Hatchett (Walton Goggins) killed resort owner Jim Hollinger (Scott Glenn), who was revealed in his dying moments to actually be his father. Chelsea was accidentally shot and killed during the shootout (in which Goggins killed Hollingers’ two bodyguards, though they were minor characters) and Hatchett was later gunned down by resort guard Gaitok (played by Tayme Thapthimthong).
