Whoopi Goldberg Delivers Brutal Message On Trump’s Tariffs
Whoopi Goldberg continues to weigh in on President Donald Trump’s economic strategy — or, as she might suggest, the conspicuous absence of one.
During a Wednesday broadcast of “The View,” each of the panelists offered their own takes on Trump’s escalating tariff war against the world. But, it was Goldberg who delivered a message to international viewers who are tuned in to the daytime talk show.

“All you countries who watch us, this is not our wish,” Goldberg said. “This is not what the American people want. We don’t like it. We don’t like how this is being done.”
The comedian-turned-commentator went on to suggest that when those in power speak for the “American people,” they’re often referring to “that very band of America that they think they represent.”

Earlier in the segment, host Sunny Hostin cut to the chase: “I don’t think he knows what he’s doing,” she said of Trump’s performance in the White House.
“We keep on failing to remember that he bankrupted two casinos,” she continued. “He’s had six bankruptcies.”
Hostin didn’t mince words, calling Trump “not a good business person,” and asserting that he “doesn’t understand economics.”

Her remarks came after global markets reeled in response to Trump’s April 2 “Liberation Day” declaration — a move so unexpected, it made even his own aides scramble. By Wednesday, Trump had temporarily backed off his trade war and reversed course with little warning.

The shift came mere hours after Trump, his press secretary and senior officials said there would be no delay and no negotiations on the tariffs. Many conservatives had championed the policies as a tough-love reboot for American manufacturing.

Yet even after he eased off the gas, Trump announced a 125% tariff on Chinese exports to the U.S., in a move that seemed more dramatic than strategic.
China has labeled the move “economic bullying” and promised retaliation; the country has raised tariffs on U.S. goods from 84% to 125%, according to the Associated Press.
