Big, Blundering Typo Kicked Off Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Meeting With GOP Rep.

Donald Trump’s bid to flatter and/or coerce House Republicans into passing his so-called Big Beautiful Bill took a slightly awkward turn, thanks to a simple spelling error.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) said he was among several GOP lawmakers “summoned” to the White House on Wednesday for a two-hour meeting aimed at securing their support for the president’s signature tax and spending legislation.
But there was a stumble when the name placard at Burchett’s seat in the Cabinet Room was missing an “R.” According to The New York Times, Burchett said Trump personally corrected the tag by writing in the missing letter.
The president, apparently keen to impress, then signed both sides and gave it back to Burchett as a souvenir, the lawmaker told the newspaper.
Burchett later shared a video talking about the visit on X (formerly Twitter), calling the meeting a “very productive” session with Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
“The president was wonderful, as always. Informative, funny — he told me he likes seeing me on TV, which was kind of cool,” Burchett enthused. He also said that Trump “signed a bunch of stuff” for him, calling that “cool” too.
