Jamie Foxx Seemingly Addresses Birthday Altercation That Left Him Injured In Cryptic Message

Jamie Foxx seemingly shared a cryptic statement following reports of an altercation at his birthday celebration in Beverly Hills, California, on Friday that left him injured.

On Saturday, the Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed in a media release on X, formerly called Twitter, that officers responded to “a possible assault with a deadly weapon” at Mr. Chow, a restaurant in Beverly Hills, shortly after 10 p.m., and that “no arrests were made.” They did not mention Foxx by name.

However, a spokesperson for Foxx told CBS News that the actor, who just turned 57, was at Mr. Chow for “his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth.”

“He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called, and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands,” the representative added.

On Sunday, Foxx appeared to indirectly address the incident in a post to his fans on Instagram, sharing a message that read, “The devil is busy… but I’m too blessed to be stressed.”

“The devil is a lie,” he captioned the post. “Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright.”

The “Ray” star then thanked fans for watching his new Netflix stand-up special, “What Had Happened Was,” which was released on Dec. 10.

“And huge thank yous to everyone that have watched and been inspired by ‘What Had Happened Was’ … number 1 on @netflix if you haven’t checked it out please go check it out it’s from my heart and my soul,” he said.

In its statement, the Beverly Hills Police Department said it determined the reported assault with a deadly weapon was “unfounded” and that the incident at Mr. Chow involved “a physical altercation between parties.”

Authorities also said they “conducted a preliminary investigation” and “completed a report documenting the battery.”
