Jamie Raskin Says ‘Lots Of Discussion’ Happening ‘Very Quickly’ After Biden Debate
“There will be lots of discussion and lots of people weighing in, and I know this is a moving target,” Raskin said on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes.”
“It’s got to happen quickly, but I can guarantee you, Chris Hayes, there will be massive unity and focus on that task when we get to the end of this process, and it’s happening very quickly, I think.”
Hayes had asked the lawmaker if he agrees with Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas), who on Tuesday became the first Democratic member of Congress to publicly call on Biden to drop out of the race after last week’s debate.
Raskin did not directly answer the question, saying that Democratic politicians and voters are focused on one question, “which is, how do we defeat Donald Trump, and how are we going to defeat the threat of authoritarianism.”
Appearing on MSNBC Sunday, Raskin said Democrats were having “a serious conversation about what to do,” acknowledging that there was “a big problem” with Biden’s debate performance.
Since Thursday, the president has faced an increasing number of calls to step aside and allow a younger candidate to run against Trump.
Biden has acknowledged he didn’t perform well but defended it as a bad night due to exhaustion from his international travel schedule prior to the event.
